Kawish Update: April - 2014 (10-May-2014):

Welcome to our latest update for the month of April.

With the grace of Allah, this was another extremely productive month for Kawish Welfare Trust. Several initiatives were taken including restructuring of the Board of Trustees.
In summary, we started a new initiative for providing clean drinking water to the remote villages in Sindh, leveraged our Telemedicine health system and Inaugurated two new rural health centres, had our monthly eye camp involving eye operations in Bahwalanagar, initiated a collaborative effort of a new school system with Al Hijra Foundation, carried out virtual training of teachers across KWT’s entire school network, organised a ceremony to award students and teachers for their outstanding performance and hosted a visit by BBC team to cover KWT’s telemedicine model.
In other updates, KWT is likely to be awarded strategic partnership with Diya Foundation for rolling out a large number of primary schools part funded by an off-shore Charity. The model would work on minimising fixed expenses by using existing infrastructure, a concept that is already well entrenched in KWT philosophy and practice.
Additionally, KWT had its BOT reconfigured to better align objectives with delivery capabilities. Ambulance service was evaluated for possible expansion and upgradation, work on a new composite facility offering education and health facilities in KPK progressed along with several strategic, tactical, administrative and logistical discussions and meetings held to further the progress of KWT.
You will find brief details of the main achievements along with photographs in the pages below. Your support and patronage mean everything to KWT without which we cannot make any progress. Please take a moment to look at the pictures because as they say “Seeing is Believing” KWT does not believe in direct self projection so through this group of esteemed members and supporters, may we request that the word about KWT’s activities is spread out. This will enable KWT, which started from a humble dispensary in Bahawalnagar a decade ago, to graduate to even higher levels of service to poor humanity..

Drought in Tharparkar Pakistan:
Update on Thar Relief Project by Kawish Karachi:

Below is the map of the areas that we are working on and have circled it in red. Our base camp is in Mithi, which is around 370 KMs from Karachi and takes around 6-7 hours to reach. Diplo is another 25-30 kms from Mitthi and other villages are also within the 25 kms radius of Mitthi.
These locations have been chosen in line with our tradition to look for areas that need help but are away from the main focus areas of the media and other relief organizations and as such these sites/ villages are away from the main roads where the only means of transport is by 4x4 vehicles and or donkeys. Due to this the cost of moving the equipments is higher compared to locations which are near the main roadways.
Also below pics show how the water was transported on donkeys from 3-4 kms away prior to setting up our hand pumps, the setting up and launch of the three completed hand pumps and the repair of a half completed well.
We continue to work on this project as instructed and seek your prayers and support.

Please note the progress below of the relief efforts so far in the area of Thar.

Pictures are as below.
