Expansion in Kawish Iqra Schools:

Iqtedar Ahmed Welfare Trust has shown interest in opening of 05Kawish Iqra Schools in collaboration with Kawish. Sites have been shortlisted and schools will be inaugurated by Feb15’2013. Inshallah.
Syed Shahid Ali Shah, Chief Executive Officer Treet Corporation & Chairman Gulab Devi Trust Hospital is also desirous of establishing 10 schools in the areas of Jehlum.
Kawish team is also reviewing of establishing 05 schools in Peshawar, Charsadda, Rawalpindi & Badin. These schools shall be sponsored by Mr. Noor Abid & Mr. Afaq Khan who are the patrons of Kawish~Sayeban at Raheem Yar Khan cluster.

Developments at Rural Tele Medicine (RTM: Hub & Spoke):

1. A seasoned MBBS Doctor has been appointed at RTM Hub who has started providing remote consultancy to the poor people in remote villages. The working timings are from 3.00 pm till 6.00 pm. More requirements are being looked into for improvements. Mutual training sessions will be held for all teams involved which would benefit all. At later stage, a booklet on SOP shall be established for elaborating Tele Medicine Plan for replication purposes.
2. Display of banners at some important places and handy leaflets are being arranged for the publicity to increase the daily numbers of patients at Spoke end.
3. Rural Telemedicine is a joint venture of Gulab Devi Trust Hospital, Shafi Group, Izhar Group and Kawish.

What has been done so far?

• Established HUB at Gulab Devi hospital.
• Linked 02 Remote clinics ( 300 km away) via broad band for video conferencing.
• Harmonized Team : Project Coordinators, I.T. person, Para medical staff at HUB and spokes.
• System has been tested for successful delivery.
• Awareness at rural vicinity: 100 patients per day available at SPOKES after promotional campaign.
Doctors are requested to join us by taking membership of RTM & help us give subsidized service to the poor in remote areas.

Maria Helena Foundation, Canada (MHF founded in 1999):

We feel pleasured to inform that on Dec. 16th, 2012, a Pakistani-Canadian, and a founder of the Maria-Helena Foundation (MHF), Dr. Muhammad Iqbal was conferred upon Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his exceptional leadership as a humanitarian and philanthropist. Dr. Iqbal has provided schooling to almost 4000 children, mostly girls in Pakistan. His Foundation, in partnership with Tameer-e-Millat Foundation and Kawish Welfare Trust, provides educational opportunities to disadvantaged children in Pakistan. This award was given to him by the Member of Parliament for Vancouver Quadra Ms. Joyce Murray (in the above photograph). We Pakistanis take pride of this distinguished accomplishment by Dr. Muhammad Iqbal These awards are for Canadians, all across Canada, who have shown outstanding leadership and sustained contributions to communities in Canada or outside Canada.

Kawish Iqra Schools appearance in Primary Board Examination:

AlHamdolillah, 525 children of 21 Kawish Iqra Schools have completed their syllabus within 03 years and are ready to appear for Punjab Primary Board Examination to be held during the 1st week of February 2013.
Since, 21 schools are reaching to maturity by completing 03 years primary level of education, therefore, same numbers of schools shall be replenished and approx. 700 fresh kids shall be enrolled for 2013-2016 session. Inshallah.
You may join us by sponsoring Iqra school in rural areas. We may open school for duration 2013-2016 in 02 weeks time. We shall dedicate this school on your suggested name & shall apprise you with operational details on quarterly basis supported by pics etc. Pls. find details as below;

Utility back-up in rural areas using Solar Panels:

We are getting repeated requests for establishing of Solar system in others mosques as well keeping in view of tremendous shortage of electricity in remote villages. Perfect for Mosques as this provides decent illumination during Maghrib, Issha & Fajar prayers and ventilation / comfortable environment for kids in the summers. A solar company has offered us a discounted rate @ Rs. 25,000/- each specially for mosques. We have approx 40 requests from the Mosques in remote areas.
Pls. feel free to contact us to reduce the agony of the people in dire need of help by sponsoring system (s) in mosques for continued Sadqah Jariah.
We have a brilliant feedback from villages where we have installed 08 such solutions in mosques.

Eye Camp:

A monthly Eye Camp was held on Dec. 29th and 30th 2013 at Al-Raheem Hospital where 66 patients got treatment by the OPD and 11 Eye Cataract patients underwent Laser Phaco Surgery by our expert doctors and paramedical staff at extremely nominal rates.
The number of patients during this Eye Camp was considerably less due to extreme cold weather conditions.

Special Endowment of Quilts and Ration by Shafi Group:

At the beginning of year 2013, our partners and donor M/s Siddiq Leather Works (Pvt.) Ltd as a Special Endowment supported the distribution of quilts and ration packs among 1640 poverty stricken and underprivileged Families, Widows, Iqra Orphan Students.
Benefits Achieved:
Maximum presence in a class & Less numbers of absentee students.
More requests from unprivileged families to induct their kids in Iqra school program.
97 Orphan students were facilitated.
Ours 125 Iqra female students participated to stitch quilts in bulk and got wages in return.

A gift from Kawish donors to the rural villages in Sindh:
Installation of drinking water hand pumps: (65 installed /85 pumps  Total Target)

The installation of water hand pumps resumed after a break of few months in Sindh area where there is a scarcity of drinking water. The project was suspended due to flood in Sindh and law and order situation in Karachi. The project is being spearheaded by Mr. Mahmud ul Haq, under the supervision of Mr. Amir Hassan Kawish Sindh team member. 10 more hand pumps for drinking water have been installed in the villages of Badin escalating the total count to 65 numbers. We have planned to install 20 more pumps @ Rs. 12,000/pump. We appoint custodian of each pump for uninterrupted operations.
